La Flor de Al-andalus

For about 35 Euros in the off-season, I got a small single room with a comfortable bed, desk, and cabinet for hanging and storing clothes. It was very clean, though the wall could use a fresh coat of paint. The bathroom was very nice, with a great shower and lots of hot water. At night the room was quiet and dark, and the air-conditioning worked well. The staff were very friendly. It's a good budget stay in Merida if you only need basic internet. I had a strong WiFi signal and could email and browse the web, but WhatsApp calls wouldn't work because the network wasn't compatible. My FTP program also wasn't compatible, and I couldn't upload to Google Drive or watch YouTube. The issue may have been the speed. If you need internet calls or large file uploads, you may need to stay somewhere else.

The room itself was clean, okay, and fairly quiet. Breakfast was dreadful, a complete waste of money. The worst part came after we managed the Mérida traffic and parked in the hostel's reserved space out front. Reception asked us to move the car to a street around the corner. I was confused but did as asked, then got an €80 parking ticket the next morning. Avoid.

After all the peregrino albergues on the camino, this felt very luxurious. My room was small but pleasant, with a comfy bed, window, AC, desk, chair, wardrobe, safe, and a modern bathroom with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The hotel is very affordable, the staff are friendly and helpful, and there's a lift. I absolutely recommend it.

The look of the place is amazing, and the staff are really nice. It was a last-minute decision, though, and I can't give it more stars because my private bathroom was pretty meh, with some hair on the floor, and the breakfast was very poor.
