Hotel TRH Mijas

I came by myself in July for a week on a package holiday, staying half board. The location was excellent, no more than 10 minutes from Mijas centre. Breakfast was great. Dinner wasn't the best, but I could always find something to eat. Drinks were reasonably priced, and I was always seated by the window. The outside area was great when you could get a seat. The staff were excellent, especially the waiting team, and they work really hard. My room was very clean, and there were plenty of sunbeds. The Juliet balcony only had space for a chair, so I'd pay extra for a full balcony. I'd highly recommend it.

Mijas is a lovely village, and the location is stunning, with an excellent bus service to nearby Fuengirola and Benalmadena. It has an attractive church and plenty of quaint places serving great food. The reception and dining room were lovely, breakfast was very good, and the staff were pleasant. The beds were comfortable, the bedding immaculate, and the housekeeping staff work hard to keep things as good as they can. We wouldn't return to this hotel, though. It's a shame it's not maintained to the standard of its four-star rating. The rooms are tired and dated, though reasonably clean. Furniture in the bar lounge and public areas had stains, and some leather-look tub chairs were ripped or split. Water poured in through the conservatory roof. Room paint was chipped, and the furniture needed painting. The balcony was black with algae, the patio door leading out to it was draughty, and its handle was loose. The bathroom was very dated, with a shower over the bath, pitted taps, and a screen without a seal. The toilet roll holder was loose too.

The place has a lovely charm, and the staff are first class. Don't be put off by negative reviews about the bedrooms. It's a great hotel, highly recommended, and we'll be back.

The views are spectacular, and the hotel is clean and very well located. Jose Luis and Danny gave us an awesome welcome at Reception, and the staff at the pool, bars, and breakfast restaurant were friendly and caring. It's all a bit dated, but in a classy, clean way, and the price is great for what you get. You have to pay extra for the room safe deposit. The massage spa is OK. In shoulder season they tend to switch off the A/C, but we asked and they turned it back on. A place I'd return to.
