Villa Rocamar

I wish I'd seen Maria Zamora's review a year ago. I rarely write reviews, but people should know that I think the owner gives false information on his website. The location is beautiful, and the front of Villa Rocamar looks lovely. Inside, though, there's a lot to be desired. The WiFi doesn't work properly, just as Maria said a year ago, yet the owner still advertises it. My Cuban partner found it funny when the owner said it was temperamental like things in Cuba. I thought that was insulting. The air conditioning also didn't work, as Maria had reported. The building work was started years ago but never finished. On my terrace, exposed live wires were dangerous, and there was a sheet of plasterboard drying in front of it. I'll post photos. The continental breakfast was nowhere near a proper continental breakfast: two pieces of stale bread, one slice each of ham, chorizo, and cheese, and cheap, unpleasant coffee. No juice, croissants, or pastries. You can find a much better hotel for the price. The owner also advertises luxury Egyptian cotton and bathroom accessories. The bathroom itself was great, but there was only one bottle of soap to carry between the shower and sink, with no shampoo, conditioner, or other things you'd expect in a luxurious bathroom. I hope this helps people make an informed decision.

We really enjoyed our stay at this charming villa. It's in a quiet neighborhood with wonderful views, and the owner is very friendly and always happy to offer good ideas about places to visit.

Alain was a fascinating and fun host, generous with his stories. Many thanks to him for making our stay so enjoyable. The villa is a real gem for anyone who wants somewhere distinctive and charming instead of the same experience offered by big hotel chains. Alain, who's a passionate traveler, has personally decorated the six rooms currently available with objects from around the world. Every room has its own name and takes inspiration from a different country. They're spacious, tastefully decorated, and full of personal history, and the beds are incredibly comfortable. There are also art-filled shared spaces, a lovely pool, and stunning views. It was hard to leave! We'll definitely recommend the place and return whenever we can. ❤️
