The broken shower sprayed water up toward the ceiling and left the whole bathroom flooded whenever we used it. There were cockroaches in the kitchen cupboards and bathroom too, and the downstairs bathroom smelled awful. With no window or proper ventilation, that sewage odor became almost unbearable. Even basic things like shampoo and soap holders were missing, and the faucet was broken as well. Getting the keys was a mess. The listing didn’t give the property’s real address, and after a string of confusing messages and vague directions, we were told to walk nearly 1.5 km to a resort reception to collect them. That was especially inconvenient with luggage after a long trip. The Wi-Fi kept dropping because it was shared with another house and the router was in a different property. We had no internet for 3 days, even after telling the host about it repeatedly. The TV only worked with streaming apps, with no regular channels. This stay was stressful and uncomfortable, and nowhere near what was advertised. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

No Wi-Fi or air conditioning were the main drawbacks for us, especially the lack of air conditioning. That’s the main reason we wouldn’t return to Apartmentos Jessica Beach. We managed without Wi-Fi by taking a very short walk to local bars, where they were happy to share their password. The setting is idyllic, right on the seafront, and the apartment is spacious and comfortable. Mil Palmeras is a lovely little town with shops and bars close by, but it hasn’t become overly commercialised. The beach just in front is stunning, with lovely swimming water and a long stretch of sand. There were definitely more positives than negatives.

The best thing is being right next to the beach. I come to these apartments every year, though, and nothing changes: they’re dirty, there are cockroaches, and you can’t get a TV signal. This year the staff were super unpleasant on top of that.

The receptionists are incredibly helpful, and the apartments look beautiful and work well after being renovated this year. They’re in a prime location. Management has changed, so we need to give them some time. I hope I can come back next year.
