Holiday Club Puerto Calma

The balcony was the best part, roomy and with a sea view. We paid extra for that view, and it was spot on. We visited in January this year and couldn’t fault the place. The staff were brilliant, and although the walk into the town centre is short, even the return walk was manageable for us. Recommended.

The pool was excellent, and the lifeguard took wonderful care of our daughters. There was a language barrier, but he still made sure they were looked after, which we really appreciated. We felt safe here. The staff were extremely kind and helpful too. I highly recommend this hotel.

The food was really lovely, with generous portions and very reasonable prices, and everything was easy. The staff were the nicest. My one complaint is that breakfast doesn’t start until 8am. We had to leave at 7.30am on our last day, so there was no early breakfast option.

We were after a quiet, relaxing holiday, but ended up spending most of our time away from the hotel to get some peace. We’d book the Portonvo hotel when we come back. Four months ahead, we asked for the highest floor if possible and were told they’d do their best. Instead we got a dirty room on the second floor beside the noisy bar. They moved us to the fourth floor the next day, which was better, but I don’t know why we had to go through that first. The bathroom had mould and an awful shower. We were expected to take our own rubbish out because the cleaners don’t empty it. The pool loungers were hard, uncomfortable and couldn’t be adjusted. Getting to the hotel also means climbing hundreds of stairs.
