Holiday Club Sol Amadores Hotel

Our apartment was clean, spacious and well equipped, and the jacuzzi room had excellent views. We had a great week and I’d definitely return and recommend it. The location is okay, though there’s some distance to walk. Reception can call a cab and it arrives quickly. The staff were the friendliest and loveliest ever, and we had no issues with them. There was no hot water the first evening or morning, but they replaced the tank quickly. The lift broke too, which was tricky because the stairs aren’t lit. A staff member helped me with my case, so that was fine.

Unreal views, great staff and amenities, and I was happy to find a gym. There are lots of stairs, but there are lifts as well. We found a hidden path at the bottom of the property that made the beach easier to reach. Parking on the road was easy.

The staff were so good natured and welcoming. Special thanks to the ladies at the pool bar and Michelle at reception, who were both really lovely. The hotel has all the amenities, and I’m giving it a high rating. A few touches could make it feel more cosy. It’s a little bare and boring around the pool and on the balconies. More plants, wood, colour and some art on the walls could give it a great boutique hotel look and feel.

The heated pool was warm and inviting, the kitchen was well stocked, and there are laundry facilities. The balcony had two sunbeds and a table with four chairs, though our sea view was limited. There’s a basic shop and a very reasonably priced pool snack bar on site, plus a courtesy bus to busy Amadores beach a couple of times in both the morning and afternoon. The place is small, which gives it a certain charm, but it feels basic, needs freshening up and comes across as the poor relation in the resort chain. This is a fairly small Finnish-owned Holiday Club resort in Amadores, near Porto Rico on Gran Canaria. Like other resorts in the area, it’s up a hill, and I think you need a car to get the most out of your holiday. It doesn’t have 24-hour reception, so we had to call someone from another resort to check in. The gym and sauna seemed to close at 19:00hrs, which feels early. Oddly, there’s a sign on the sauna requiring appropriate swimwear. No Fin would ever say swimwear is appropriate in a sauna!
