Hotel Chatur Palmera Mar

We usually stay at Gloria Palace Royal, but wanted to try somewhere different and still enjoy the view of Amadores. I booked directly on the website an hour before we arrived. The staff hadn’t seen my booking, but were very helpful when we got there. The rooms were very clean and extremely quiet, though a little dated, and the view from the higher floors was amazing. They left a complimentary bottle of wine in our room for my husband’s birthday, which was a lovely gesture. I didn’t give five stars because there was no tea or coffee in the rooms, and the breakfast choices were limited and weren’t replenished. The hotel sits high on a very steep bend, so getting there can be a challenge if you’re not driving.

The apartments are spacious, with a fridge and freezer that were a blessing for us. There’s no air conditioning, though the ceiling fans worked perfectly well for us. The hotel pool is lovely, supervised during the day and accessible at any time. Staff were very friendly, and everywhere was impressively clean. We also got great value and terrific sunset views every evening. The beach is a decent walk down and a solid hike back up. About 10 minutes away there’s a hub with various restaurants and a small, expensive grocery store, handy to have nearby. Isla cars rental is just around the corner, down the road from the hotel, with a small climb and then only downhill. Renting was easy and reasonably priced. Cars can be brought to the hotel and left there for pickup, so I imagine other rental companies may offer that too.

The view is terrific, but the shower water was always cold. Breakfast was awful, with poor quality and very little choice. It was all highly processed, fatty, and sugary, with no vegetables. I struggle with digestion, so I strongly advise booking a different hotel.

The hotel was very clean, and the towels were changed every day. The kitchen utensils were lacking, which wasn’t mentioned when I booked. The air conditioning was very poor in the living room, though not too bad in the bedroom.
