The hotel was nice and the food okay, but a few problems affected our stay. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling because there was no ventilation. Staff suggested painting it with chemicals while I was there with my children and pregnant wife. I didn't want that, so we had to live with the mold. For several days, I woke up to weed coming from the apartment next door, and staff weren't very eager to respond. The air conditioning also didn't work, and I had to complain several times before they fixed it. There were no real gluten-free food options. Apart from those issues, it's quite a nice hotel. I'm sure you'd enjoy it if you get a better room and don't have drug addicts next door.

The one positive for me was that the hotel was clean. It looked run down and needed repair work. In the bathroom, there was mold, cracked tile and patches that looked like old leaks had simply been painted over. I was assured before travelling that the food was safe for a gluten allergy, but it wasn't, and staff couldn't accommodate me. Food was often labelled incorrectly and served buffet style with everything open. The staff were lovely, but the language barrier meant they couldn't reassure me about the food. They had gluten-free beer, but ran out after four in the week. There's a beach within walking distance, but nothing else nearby to do, and anything beyond that is about an hour away. I wouldn't go back.

We wanted somewhere quiet, and the location suited us. It was handy to get around by bus or taxi. We had a brilliant two-week break, with fantastic food and staff, spacious rooms and a big terrace for sunbathing. The pool area was nice and had plenty of sunbeds. Sarah, the entertainment girl, was brilliant with the kids. Federick, the waiter who looks like Richard Gere, was attentive, and Alona the waitress, her husband the chef, and Pablo the waiter were all very friendly and hardworking.

It's much quieter than Puerto Rico, and staff gave us good advice about day trips and comparing taxi and bus prices. Drinks are all self-service, and there was a good variety of food. We always found a spot by the pool. The hotel is high up, with an amazing view from our balcony. The room and balcony were a good size, there was a kitchenette, and the air conditioning was great. Rooms were cleaned and towels changed every two days. If you don't like walking, be ready to spend quite a bit on taxis. We'd definitely return.
