Servatur Puerto Azul

We had a wonderful holiday, and the hotel is beautiful, modern and clearly well maintained. The staff were lovely, helpful and hardworking. The main pools that were open were warm, easy to enjoy for ages, and had plenty of entertainment for different age groups. There’s a lot of thought put into keeping guests happy. The family suite was comfortable and clean enough, apart from the shower, and the beds were really comfy. It was fairly quiet too, except for the people above us running about and moving tables each morning. We also liked the decor and balcony. The food was spot on, with lots of choice, and I usually struggle with hotel buffets. I especially enjoyed the Asian food station, and the fresh pizzas are a must. The kids’ disco was fun, short and engaging. I’d have preferred it to start before 7pm because my three-year-old was exhausted by then, but that’s just my preference. The lovely weather helped, and I’d recommend staying here. It would have been practically perfect for us if the splash pool had been open. That was the big disappointment. I spent hours searching for the right pool setup for my family, and the kids’ splash pool was the reason I booked this hotel. It was closed during our stay, and no one told us beforehand or at check-in. We only found out after walking around and seeing it fenced off. The shower hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly either. There was mould on the smaller shower head, near the door at the bottom, and on the tiles. Some bleach could sort it, but it seemed the cleaners didn’t pay much attention to the shower, which put me off. The toilets by the pool and main building sports pitch had the worst smell I’ve encountered since the Long Drops in Glastonbury. I don’t know why it was so bad. The pool toilets also had no soap, which felt poor and gross.

Everything was kept lovely and clean, from the restaurant to the rooms and the rest of the hotel. The staff were friendly, the food was very good, and the puddings were amazing. The pool was great too, warm enough that it was easy to get in. We had a family room on the fifth floor with a beautiful sea view. I’d recommend it to anyone.

The views over Puerto Rico and the Atlantic were excellent. We spent a week here as a family with three kids, using two basic rooms, and they worked well for us. Our first-floor rooms had a semi-private backyard that made it easy to get between them. They were clean, well maintained and had mini kitchens with the essentials for coffee, snacks and making toast. We chose half board and found that was plenty for us. The restaurant food was excellent and the service was great. The pool areas were nice, with the infinity pool properly heated and the main pool warm enough for long swims. A great week and good value for the quality. We’d come again if we return to Puerto Rico.

What an amazing, clean hotel. The staff were all lovely and helpful, and the food and drinks had something for every need. Even without children, we could see how much there is for them, from a good-sized play park to big pools and lots of activities. I’d absolutely come back, and I’m already looking at the summer holidays. If I could give it more stars, I would.
