Hotel Playa

It was very quiet during my stay, with only the sound of the waves. The basic hotel is right by the beach, and my private terrace wasn’t overlooked. Everything was very clean, and there was a large bath, which I love. Breakfast was a big toasted baguette with ham and cheese, plus a large tea and coffee. I’ll stay again.

The only decent thing was the ocean view. The hotel felt badly neglected and run-down, almost like staying in a derelict building. The sunbeds were cracked and the pool area completely uncared for. There were Christmas decorations still in the dining area, from who knows what year. Breakfast was toast with cheap ham and cheese slices. Very, very poor.

The beach behind the hotel made the location pleasant, and our rooms were clean. But none of the pools were operating, and that wasn’t mentioned in any of the emails. The air conditioning in our room didn’t work. They brought a fan, but sleeping was very difficult both nights. At 4pm the children were told to keep quiet because people were apparently having siestas. On the second morning I waited nearly 15 minutes before anyone attended to me, and got the impression management favoured Spanish guests over English ones. Breakfast was very basic.

You can’t beat the location: the beach is right outside the bedroom door and restaurants are just beyond the hotel entrance. In June 2023 there was no pool access at all and no breakfasts. The paint was in poor condition, though the room was okay and the bathroom had a decent-sized bath. On my 2022 visit, the views were stunning, the place was clean and simple, and a friendly staff member was there. The coffee was crap, and the hotel needed some paint and TLC.
