Marazul

We arrived yesterday for a short break to relax, sunbathe, swim, and have a drink, but none of those facilities were available. The room at hotel Marazul Majacar was tired but clean. The male receptionist couldn't speak English, which was okay as we can't speak Spanish either, and we translated on our mobile. When we asked where the pool was, he said it was filling. We went to look and found a derelict area with weeds, dirty chairs and tables, and a virtually empty pool. The bar was closed, and the receptionist had left the property. We left right away and booked another hotel. Had we known, we would never have booked this hotel through booking Com. They should have been made aware too. Three weeks later, we've had no response or refund, which is disgusting. I hope to get a full refund. E.Moore is my email address. We didn't stay because the advertised facilities weren't available, so why is there still no response or refund?

We visit Mojacar often since we live in Spain, just under an hour away, but this was our first stay at the hotel because it's usually full. We spent two nights in July 2024. The room had a full sea view, was spacious and spotlessly clean, and the bedding smelled absolutely fabulous and fresh. There was a kitchen with a fridge, but you'll need to bring your own cups, kettle, tea, and coffee. The room had been freshly painted, and the pool was lovely. A great stay all round. We only live 45 minutes away and know Mojacar, so we'd only visit in low season. After another booking let us down, we found a room at The Marazul and arrived four hours early. A very polite staff member checked us in straight away and handed over the keys. We only stayed a couple of nights and wanted a fridge and balcony for extra flexibility. What we got was a small apartment with a kitchen, sink, microwave, electric hob, fridge/freezer, and everything else you'd need. The bathroom had plenty of hot water and a hairdryer, and there was lots of storage and wardrobe space. The bedroom was very spacious, with a comfortable bed, and the terrace was a good size with a sea view. It's perfectly placed for bars and restaurants. The pueblo is a 45 minute walk away, and there are bus stops right outside if you don't fancy walking. There's a car park, plus a garden and pool round the back. Everyone we met on staff was super polite and helpful. For what it is, the hotel was well worth what we paid. We haven't met the owners yet, but we'd like to on our next visit. We'd definitely stay again, and we had a few laughs reading their responses to negative reviews. To save yourself a negative review, even if reading the responses is less fun, do your homework on where you plan to spend your holiday!

I've never felt inclined to rate or comment on a service before, but the way this hotel handled things is mind-boggling. My girlfriend and I were travelling around Spain and chose this place for one night. There were two old table lamps in the room that switched on by pulling a cord. When I pulled one, it broke and a piece came off. No one was at reception around the clock, so we left the broken parts on the same table and went on our way. After the trip, we saw that 52 euros had been charged to my card. We asked the hotel to send a receipt or a website showing the lamp actually costs 52 Eur, because we thought the price was too high. Instead, they started threatening us with a civil lawsuit for asking to get their money back. I dread to think what might have happened if we'd broken a microwave or shower. If you can, don't stay here, as the hotel will try to charge as much as possible for old, broken items.
