It’s in a very good location, but the place was uncomfortable and not clean, and the boiler was leaking. When we asked for help, the owner didn’t assist us. The service was rude, very pushy, and repetitive. I wouldn’t stay again. La Roana in Montánchez is much better.

The beds were the worst part, uncomfortable and sagging, with old mattresses and no spare pillows. The blender didn’t work, there wasn’t enough kitchenware for 11 people, and cats left droppings in the patio. There were lots of mosquitoes and flies inside, too. It’s a large town house with a few frills, but it doesn’t feel rural. The photos don’t show the roughly 20 steps up to the kitchen and bedroom area. Parking is difficult on the narrow street, even though it’s advertised as a rural guesthouse. All that for €900, from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning.

Juan Carlos, the owner, is very hospitable and a great guy. The house has excellent amenities, spacious rooms, and welcoming common areas, and it’s very well located for exploring the area. A group of friends and I stayed over the Pilar holiday weekend and had a fantastic time. Highly recommended for a few days away.

Once we aired the house out, the slight musty smell we noticed on arrival quickly went away. It’s very spacious, with four large bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, plus two kitchens, three living rooms, two terraces, a barbecue, and a wood-fired oven. There’s great attention to detail. The owners’ shop next door has everything you need and gives a 5% discount. They also have another shop in the Plaza. We’ll definitely be back.
