The town itself is lovely, which made this stay even more disappointing. We booked here because there are so few places to eat in móntenejos with all the tourists around, but the restaurant was always full of locals and we could never use it. Staff were extremely rude and unhelpful, with such volatile reactions that I felt I couldn't ask them anything. Other reviews suggest this isn't just my experience. At check-in they also claimed we hadn't paid and tried to get us to pay twice, a problem other reviewers mention too. There was no staffed reception, the wifi was terrible, and the rooms were awful. Saving money on this hotel left us with terrible memories of a lovely town.

The staff worked hard and were helpful. The meal, though, looked and tasted bad, and our room looked out onto a garage in the middle of an industrial area.

I only needed a shower and a good night's sleep while passing through, and HOTEL GIL was just right for that. It was clean and fresh for a 2-star hotel, with wifi that worked well in my room, which also had a TV. I parked my HONDA motorcycle just outside the frontDoor on the ‘porch’. I came from Los Alcázares (S of Torrevieja) and stayed from July 14-15 2018. I'd recommend it to other travelers passing by.
