We really enjoyed the homemade breakfast, it was delicious. Casa da Castañeira is amazing, and Manuel was a wonderful host, helping us figure out the area’s highlights.

We happened to be there during the recent snowfall and felt right at home. The kitchen is basic but works well, with a fridge and everything needed for a few days. There’s also a pellet stove and a hairdryer. Manuel’s service was impeccable, as always. We’ll definitely come back!

This is a little cluster of connected houses, almost like a tiny village. We stayed in Cúrcuma, which has four beds. The heating runs on pellets, the hot water and cooker use butane, and the beds are the old-fashioned kind with springs and foam. You might need to change the gas bottle or light both heaters at night if you’re cold, but that’s part of the enxebre feel. There’s wifi, and dogs are welcome. It can get very muddy outside, and the drive in involves quite a bit of rough track. You’ll pass cows and mastiffs, as well as polite people who raise a hand in greeting, which means a lot. Manuel stays on top of everything and even lights the heaters while you’re out. Parking is the one drawback: there isn’t much, and it’s open, though it feels safe.

Manuel suggested routes and places for us to visit. The little houses are very cute and set right in the middle of nature. They’re spacious and comfortable, and dogs can come along. Manuel also makes homemade breakfast and dinner, all vegan and adjusted to your taste. The portions are generous, too.

Manuel’s hospitality, warmth, and friendliness made our stay at O caserío da Castiñeira a 10 out of 10. The food was a big part of it too, especially the incredible breakfast. We’re very grateful and hope we can come back soon. Thank you, Manuel.
