It’s a sleepy town, good for recharging for a few days, and not very touristy. Most people who live here seem to be seniors. There are two grocery stores within a five-minute walk and one general store, plus maybe five to ten restaurants within a 15-minute walk. Mondays have a town market, and on the Friday I was here there was a festival, with lots of people sitting around town. It was adorable, kind of like Animal Crossing. As for the hostel, the rooms were fine, though the bathroom was downstairs. My room smelled a bit funky, but I don’t think it was necessarily dirty. You get what you pay for. One guy, who I think is the owner, seems to run most of the place. He’s a little gruff, but genuine and kind as long as you’re not rude. They speak limited English, though check-in was easy and smooth.

Montuïri is a really cute, beautiful town and not touristy at all. I was happy with what we got for the money and would definitely come back. I stayed for a couple of nights and everything was just right. The host was friendly and helpful, and we felt at home. The hostel is easy to reach, even by bus. There’s a supermarket around the corner, and the town center, with several bars and restaurants, is only a two-minute walk away.

There’s no kitchen for guests to cook in, but the café/bar downstairs serves fresh coffee and a few simple dishes and breakfast. The signs said not to bring your own food, yet they didn’t mind when our group ate together on the balcony. I also saw another guest ask the owner to heat food in the café microwave, so they seem pretty relaxed about it. I hadn’t booked ahead, but since I was traveling alone they found me a bed in a six-bed dorm. The rooms were neat and clean. The building is open in its layout, with several little “balconies” and spots to hang out, which makes it easy to meet people.

The breakfast was great, with lots of fresh fruit and variety. The owner or manager also went to the bakery and brought back fresh croissants and other goodies. One downside was that the staff’s English wasn’t great. Since English isn’t the local language, I don’t hold that against them, especially as they were otherwise friendly and helpful. This is a lovely, well-kept hostel in a tiny town, away from the bustle and surrounded by gorgeous scenery. It’s fresh, clean, and spacious, and everything from the bedding to the bathrooms is kept spotless. I’d recommend having a car. I had one for my trip, didn’t see much public transport while I was there, and there are some great views you might otherwise miss.

Finding a parking spot nearby was a real hassle, even with a car, and bus connections to the place aren’t very good. The staff offered no help with parking or any other problems. When I asked too many questions, they got angry and started shouting. The rooms are very small and can get extremely hot in summer. The fan didn’t make it any better. Hands down, not recommended. This was my worst hostel experience.
