Apartamentos La Iglesia

Apartamentos la Iglesia 1 has a great location and the house has been renovated, but that's about all I can say in its favor. We were there with friends and kids for a ski trip to Valdelinares, despite having seen the bad reviews. Watch the sloping ceilings or you'll hit your head. The spring mattresses and pillows were awful, and everything needs replacing. The power also went out for no clear reason. Downstairs, the restaurant, bar, pub, and disco played loud music late into the night, so getting proper sleep was impossible. Mora de Rubielos deserves better for tourism, especially when it should be a main source of income.

The girl who checked us in was very friendly, and the house looks pretty from the outside. We stayed at Abuelo I's house over the November bank holiday weekend, but the inside was run down and needed a lot of maintenance. The kitchen was filthy, the extractor fan didn't work, the cutlery and glasses were tiny, the pans were falling apart, and the coffee maker gasket was disintegrating. There wasn't even a toaster. The beds and pillows were ancient and so uncomfortable we had to book a physiotherapy appointment on the way home. In the bathroom, the bidet was loose, water leaked from under the toilet, the shower was chipped and rusty with damp patches, the showerhead didn't work properly, and none of the taps worked right. There was very little light, no bedside tables in any room, and we couldn't adjust the heating ourselves. We were freezing until the girl turned it up. The walls badly need repainting. For what it is, the place is shabby and ridiculously overpriced. No surprise it was the only place available three weeks before the long weekend. We wouldn't return or recommend it.

The bar and club downstairs kept partying until 6 a.m., and it felt like they were right in our bedrooms. We spent three nights in the Iglesia 1 apartment and won't be back, even as a gift. The bed was so uncomfortable the springs pushed in and you rolled toward the middle. Our kid even thought it was an air mattress. We were lucky to have brought our own pillows. Cleaning had been very superficial, and cooking in the dirty kitchen felt a bit scary. There wasn't enough kitchenware even to open a bottle of wine.

The apartment was cozy and well located, with excellent central heating. The hostess was very friendly, and best of all, pets are allowed.
