Apartamentos Mundaka

The rooms were really dirty and hadn’t been cleaned. Even for an apartment hotel, there was no dish soap and the bathroom was very poorly equipped. It was quite pricey too, we paid 151 euros for one night.

The bed was excellent and really comfortable, and the staff were pleasant. The room was light and airy, but didn’t match what I expected from the online pictures. The double doors were beside the bed, so there was no view unless you stood outside on the small deck. There was a coffee percolator but no coffee, which seems like a basic thing to provide for travelers. There was no rubbish bin apart from the tiny bathroom one, no air conditioning, just a fan, and the wifi wasn’t secure. For the price, the facilities weren’t what I expected. The location was okay, near the road into Mundaka and the train track, so there was some traffic noise. We found a place to park on the road the second night. Since we arrived late, we decided to bite the bullet and pay 13 Euro for their private parking.

The room was already heated when we arrived, which I really appreciated since it was cold outside and we were freezing. It was spacious, nicely laid out, and had a well equipped kitchen. The views were spectacular. The receptionist was extremely friendly and quick to help when an internet glitch caused a booking problem. She also suggested a couple of places to eat and the best walking route around the village. The hotel is close to the road, and I could hear cars the whole time, though I did eventually fall asleep. You can also hear the ocean waves. A great stay, and I hope to come back.

The rooms are super noisy, with paper thin walls. If you have a neighbor, good luck getting a restful night. I just saw the place’s reply. It seems like a way to deny they have a real noise problem. Hint, try to avoid room 3 on the main floor. If you end up there, try to work out with your neighbor that they won’t shower while you’re sleeping.
