I’m posting this soon after arrival, even though I usually wait. I was glad they let us check in early at 1 pm, and our room is large and bright, as expected for the premium room we paid for. It has a terrace, though the wall and hedge block the view. I’d hoped for a bit of luxury and somewhere to relax. There were no bathrobes or slippers, which I’d expect at a good four-star hotel. When I called reception, they said a robe could be provided at reception for €3. The heated indoor pool is downstairs, along a tired, musty corridor beside small function rooms. Guests have to pay €1 for a towel. The pool area feels dated and musty, and there are no changing rooms, so people change beside the pool. That’s unpleasant, and the only shower is right by the pool with no privacy. Don’t choose this hotel for the heated pool. Food options at the hotel also seem limited. It feels unwelcoming and very overpriced.

The hotel was top notch, with a spacious ground-floor room, a terrace, and tasteful, high-standard decor. It’s a great stopover near Bilboa, set in the countryside with beautiful views. We brought our dog Cooper into the bistro bar while we ate, and the hotel was very pet friendly. The food was good, the service excellent, and the staff friendly and helpful. We’d highly recommend it.

A peaceful, amazing place, though a little expensive for what you get. We had a good stay overall, but the room service fee was high, and breakfast cost more if you didn’t book it in advance.

We spent three nights here with my wife for about €500, and I’d come back if I get the chance. It’s easy to reach, the food was great, and the amenities were well looked after. The hotel is luxurious, renovated from an old palace.
