La Casa de Colores

The owners were really friendly, and the place itself was peaceful and pretty good. The beds could use attention, though. Upstairs, they’re small, and the mattresses feel worn, so you sink into them. At 6'3", I kept slipping off the sides and could only sleep in one position. The kitchen also needs more utensils and has no dishes. We went with friends and had to get creative just to eat dinner together. I’d rate the place five stars if those things were improved.

The town is so quiet, and Ávila is only 10-15 minutes away if you need to buy anything. La Casa de Colores is a lovely rural house, cared for inside and out. We all had a great time, especially the kids. I’d definitely recommend it.

Our dogs loved having a large enclosed area where they could run around safely. The bed was comfortable, the house stayed perfectly warm, and the windows have mosquito nets. There isn’t much kitchenware, but it was enough for a weekend. The house felt original and cozy, and both outdoor areas were wonderful, especially the barbecue. It was too early in the season for the pool, though in these temperatures we could imagine how lovely it would be once open. They made arrival and departure easy, and supplied firewood for the barbecue and fireplace, which was nice on the cool nights. A great spot for a few relaxed days with family or friends.

Even with the bad weather, we had a lovely weekend and were comfortable and entertained, the kids too. Inside, the house is really pretty, and it’s lovely to spend time outside. It’s well equipped and warm, with comfortable sofas and beds, plus plenty to keep everyone busy, like DVDs and games. Mayka was especially friendly, easy to talk to, and attentive from the moment we arrived until we left. A weekend away here is a real pleasure.
