Albergue Juvenil El Valle

The pool was a comfortable, cool spot to spend the day, and it was very well maintained. You can bring your own snacks and food and eat there without any trouble. It’s shallow, I think the deepest part is 1.70m.

The venue itself is fantastic. The company that managed it until a couple of years ago, though, made organizing any event there really difficult. They offered no help, so I had to keep pushing for everything, and they were incredibly stingy with money.

There’s plenty of space on the grounds, which works well for group activities. Getting there can be tedious without your own transport, even though the location is well chosen. Sleeping rooms are split into two small cubicles, each with a bunk bed, and there’s a shared wardrobe and sink. The bedroom has a toilet and shower. Kitchen service is standard. The camp food is acceptable quality but somewhat limited, and that’s the part I’d most like to see improved.

I went back on Sunday after all those years and was so happy to see the hostel again. I spent 15 years there when I was little, and those two weeks left me with wonderful memories. The pool seemed bigger back then. I remember days I never wanted to end, and my parents had a hard time getting me to leave because I didn’t want to go.
