The buffet breakfast was a nice start to each morning, with fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, sausages, bacon, and continental options. We stayed in May at the Occidental Hotel Agalia and got a taxi from the airport for 29€. The hotel was clean and pleasant, and the staff were welcoming and polite. Our Superior Room with a Terrace had a sofa, a small table and chairs, plus two sun loungers and another table outside. The building blocked the sun in the morning, which reached the terrace around 1pm, though two tall office buildings opposite also cast shade later. I suppose employees there might see you sunbathing 🤭. Since it was low season, the pool area stayed closed for most of our visit, and we couldn’t access it at all. We understood the safety reason, even though we weren’t especially interested in swimming. There’s a supermarket next door, open Monday to Saturday, where we picked up water and snacks for the room. McDonald’s and Burger King are nearby too. The old town is a 20-25 minute walk; we walked there for dinner, so I can’t say what the restaurants closer to the hotel are like. We really enjoyed the stay, though the place felt more business oriented than geared to leisure. Maybe it feels different in high summer, when the pool is open ☀️.

It’s a quiet, pleasant place to stay, and driving up and parking are easy. The historic center is about 25 minutes away, but there are plenty of bars, restaurants, and Baroque architecture there, with some restaurants closer to the hotel too. The distance didn’t bother me.

The bathroom is fantastic, and the custom Spotify playlist in the shower was a fun touch. I’ve been here less than an hour and already love it. The rooms look fancy, though the fridge in one room didn’t work, and I was a bit overwhelmed by how many light switches there were. It’s right in the middle of town, in a great location.

The front desk staff spoke good English, and everything else was good, so I enjoyed the stay. The air conditioning was weaker than I expected in weather over 35°C, and it took a long time to cool the room.
