Grupotel Alcudia Suite

Samanta and Vanessa at the front desk, along with Cisco and Manuel in the restaurant, deserve a special thank you for such great service. Everyone was super friendly and ready to help. Our room was clean, and breakfast and dinner both had an excellent, wide selection. The hotel is also close to the beach, shops, and restaurants. We had a very nice stay.

The buffet costs €20 per person, and drinks are extra, with water at €2.90. Renting the safe is €2.50 a day. The reception staff were welcoming, but we felt neglected overall. They put us in a separate building far from the other guests, so we felt isolated while others gathered at lunch and by the pool. The room was old and had an odor from the furniture. The hairdryer only worked for a minute, then stopped for about ten. Towels were torn and in poor condition. I had to call to have them replaced, and took a photo, though I won’t post it. Beach towels are provided, but the room towels were still out of service. It wasn’t a good experience.

The reception lady was very friendly, and breakfast was really good. My wife and I only stayed one day, in a spacious apartment with an exceptional terrace. The bathroom had been partly renovated, but the rest of the place still needs a lot of work.

The best thing about this place is its location near a lovely beach, restaurants, and a shop underneath. Beyond that, the stay was dreadful. We didn’t sleep, and we left smelling of the room. Building work around the pool and rooms was unbearably noisy, chairs and tables scraped around at night, a bar opposite blasted music until midnight, and our room faced a busy main road. The room itself was falling apart and smelled like old wet dogs. The air conditioning broke, and an engineer walked in while my partner was naked and I was in my underwear. He didn’t leave when he saw us, went to the unit, couldn’t fix it, and shrugged that the whole hotel was the same. The hairdryer didn’t work either. The shower head was filthy, the freezer had no ice box door, there was no cup drying rack, and the bathroom soap dispenser was broken. There was a sink but no washing-up liquid. We were offered another room that smelled just as bad. We also had to pay for towels and the safe. This was nowhere near a 4-star hotel: no gym, no atmosphere, no extras. We had to pay tourist tax of €3.30 per person per day at check-in. The on-site TUI rep was extremely rude, rolling her eyes when I described the room and unable to explain the rating. She didn’t seem to care and suggested moving us to an equally awful room. Excursions were also being sold for more than the price up the road. We went to look at nearby hotels to see if we could switch, but they were booked. They all looked lovely. I wouldn’t stay at a Grupotel hotel again after this, and wouldn’t come back here. Save yourself the stress.
