After walking the Camino from Porto to Santiago, I thought Muros would be a relaxing stop with reasonable prices and a slower pace. My meal at Casa Sampedro today was disappointing. As a solo traveler, I couldn’t find a smaller option and ended up paying €37 for far too much food, more than my exceptional dinner in Santiago de Compostela last night. I had pork bites, oily, soggy fries, a simple salad with unripe tomatoes, and two glasses of everyday red wine. They even charged extra to box up food I couldn’t finish. The pork itself was tasty. Natalia served me, and I appreciated that she spoke good English. She was lovely at first, but didn’t come back to check on me. Her colleague walked past several times while I said “excuse me” and didn’t acknowledge me. I’ve since read other reviews and it sounds like this restaurant can be hit or miss, which is a shame. It has a lot of potential, but my experience didn’t live up to it.
