Monasterio y Pensión de Moraime

We stayed in the old priors house after upgrading, and I highly recommend it. It has a large lounge, bedroom, and bathroom with a hot tub. The place is secure and very quiet, away from the hustle and bustle. The town is a short drive or a moderate walk, with a stunning beach close by and roads and trails leading into the peaceful hills. The staff were brilliant and welcoming. They left bread and accompaniments for a simple breakfast and made fresh coffee each day. It was a quiet time of year, and we saw only one guest staying on the hostel side. With a car, there are plenty of beautiful beaches and places to see nearby. A little research can also turn up lovely small eateries hidden along the coast, away from the main town. If you have the time, I highly recommend the e hour drive to Porto and spending a night there.

We stayed at the Monastery for a week in September, and the staff made us feel welcome from the start. They were chatty and friendly, even with our poor attempts at Spanish, and went out of their way to help us have a great stay. Their tips included places to visit, sunset spots, and restaurants. Breakfast each day was fresh, locally baked bread for toast and a wide choice of hot drinks. It was served in a communal area where we could chat with people walking the Camino route, though there was enough room to find some peace and quiet too. Our room was beautiful, with a lovely hot tub, and the views were spectacular. A tranquil, secluded, clean beach was about a 10 minute walk away. We also ate delicious freshly prepared food at the cafe/bar beside the accommodation. It was a fantastic trip, and we’d like to thank all the staff. We’ll DEFINITELY be back.

A really charming place to rest and enjoy the area, much nicer than the hostel in the center. It’s in a beautiful historic building with nice views, friendly staff, and spotless shared spaces. The dorm has loads of room, with a curtain, lock, light, and plug for every bed. Bathrooms, kitchen, and common living room were all nice. It’s a beautiful 30-40 minute walk from Muxia along the Camino de Compostela. For 15 euros only (I got it for 12 on booking). My only complaint is the kitchen had no cooking equipment, just a microwave. Muy perfecto.

I didn’t stay at the hostel, but I stopped by for information and Sese at the info centre was incredibly generous with suggestions and wanted us to enjoy Muxía. She knew the whole area inside out. We also had lunch and talked with a man who’d walked many Caminos, and he said this Albergue was the best place he’d ever stayed. Definitely stop here!
