Hostal La Bamba

We were in town for a wedding and didn't have many options. The other places were 10 or 12 kms away, and if we'd known what this would be like, we should have stayed there. The hotel seems to be the only one in navalmoral de la mata, and Hotel La Bamba fits the town's ugliness, both are extremely so. Being next to the petrol station meant a noticeable diesel smell in the room. At 5 am someone started washing a car, making a racket until I shut the window. That did block the noise fairly well, but it wasn't a pleasant stay.

We stopped at the restaurant to eat before carrying on with the journey. It wasn't crowded, and the food was fine, though nothing memorable. Not bad for a quick stop.

The ham toast was awful, and when I mentioned it, the woman said I'd had too little ham. I'll leave my reply to that unsaid. They'd probably eaten less themselves when they buy good ham in my town. I don't get why you go all the way south for good ham and serve that crap. You need to know how to deal with people, or take a look at how you treat them and what you serve. I've had breakfast there several times, ordering the same coffee and half a slice of toast. It was the last bread of the day and came with a slice of ham as bad as they come. The effort, amount, and quality were always the same, so charging €5 one day and €5.50 the next seemed excessive. I went to ask why, and with the owner there, we saw the waiter charging for half slices as if they were whole. Where does that money go? I don't know, but I felt thoroughly ripped off. All I asked was that they stop doing it.
