Hotel Perla Marina

For a four-star hotel, I expected better service. I ordered lemonade and got a bottled Sprite, with no explanation. The mix-up itself wasn't a big deal. What disappointed me was that when I politely pointed it out, nobody seemed interested. Good hotels stand out through attention to detail and by responding to guest feedback. This interaction left me feeling that both were lacking. It wasn't a disaster, but it wasn't the standard I expect from a hotel in this category.

The bathroom smell was disappointing and really needs attention, though the rooms themselves were clean and comfortable. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and sea-view rooms are well worth getting for the beautiful sunsets. The hotel is right on playa chucho. Breakfast was OK, but seemed a bit too geared towards visitors from the UK.

It could work well if all you want is a beach break, but I found it too far from Old Town. We paid extra for a Seaview and did get one, but the room and bathroom were disappointing. There was enough space, but hardly any storage, just one drawer and a hanging rail. The bedside tables had no drawers, and the cheap table by the TV held a kettle, cups and only a few tea and coffee sachets. You'd need to bring your own milk. The old bathroom needs work: a shelf was coming off the wall, ceiling panels were broken, and there was mould both inside and outside the shower. I emailed the hotel about it and still hadn't had a reply almost a week later. I wouldn't stay again.

The rooftop pool added for 2025 is a real highlight, with lovely views and comfortable loungers. The hotel is in a fantastic spot, and the rooms are very clean and roomy, with modern bathrooms. Staff are welcoming, breakfast has plenty to choose from, and the price feels right. Easily a 10/10 for a 3*+/4* stay.
