Being right on the Camino was the one clear plus for me. My room was tiny, dark, musty, and damp, with mildew and large spiders. After going out for food, I came back and found the smell of bug spray and mildew made it hard to breathe. When I asked at reception to change rooms, they refused because I'd already checked in, and weren't kind about it. The toilet also kept acting up: the top mechanism stuck and it would start flushing by itself. A staff member came, banged it a few times, and insisted it wasn't broken. He then offered to show me a brighter, larger room upstairs, but wouldn't give me ten minutes to repack, so I stayed put. I regretted that choice. I couldn't sleep or breathe comfortably, and there were bugs in the bathroom. I know pilgrims aren't there just for comfort, but a good night's rest matters. The €20 Pilgrim meal was overpriced for what it was, and the meat in my basic entrée was so salty I left most of it. Breakfast had very little out, though I was glad to see real scrambled eggs after a week when eggs had been hard to find.

The owner and staff were the best part of our stay. When our luggage went to the wrong hotel, the owner texted us and drove us there in her own car to pick it up. It turned what could've been a nightmare into a 20-minute hassle, and it was my mistake. The rooms were spotless and modern, there's a pool, and a restaurant next door.

We had a great stay, and the service was awesome. The rooms were clean, and they had already put the heat on for a cold, wet day. Dinner was really good, and the breakfast buffet was terrific, with two kinds of eggs.

After a 63 km ride with plenty of climbing to Pedrouzo, we were glad to find a clean, roomy, quiet place and a warm welcome. We were able to eat right away, which was just what we needed. The varied breakfast buffet gave us good fuel for the next day's ride. My husband and I were cycling the Camino del Norte, and Alojsmientos Rurales O Acrivo made for a friendly, quality overnight stop.
