The drive up is a bit of an adventure, about nine kilometers on a winding, rocky road, but that’s part of what makes the place special. My wife and I had a great stay, with a cozy room and really good meals. We’d love to come back.

We hadn’t planned to stop here. The drive to our campsite was taking longer than expected, and we were tired, so I checked the map and called. Luckily, they had room for our family of four. El Negre is about a 30-minute trip up a dirt road, and the views and hospitality were spectacular. The other guests seemed to be there for the same reasons: peace, quiet, and time in nature. I’m ready to return!
