The restaurant used to serve fantastic food at reasonable prices a couple of years ago. I gave it another try, but left disappointed and won’t return. My salad was just two tasteless tomato slices with a bit of bonito, guindillas and onion. They wouldn’t add olives when I asked, and what arrived was the smallest, least impressive salad I’ve had in the Basque Country, about the size of a pintxo. The ingredients must have cost close to nothing. For my second dish, I took the cod the waitress recommended. It was a mush of too many sauces, very little fish and basically no potatoes, all soggy from the excess sauce. I had to eat all the bread, which was actually good, just to get some carbs. Dessert was bread soaked in sugar and condensed milk, nothing special. The food was bad, portions were small, and the menu was overpriced for what it was. Service wasn’t good either. We arrived before another table but were served after them, and the orders were wrong. Sadly, those days when the food was great and reasonably priced seem to be gone.

We had the burger and half chicken for dinner, both delicious, and they let us take the leftovers home. The bottle of cider was great too. There’s plenty of seating indoors and outside, plus a spacious garden with benches and tables and more seats on the terrace. It gets busy, though, and there are only so many waiters, so you might have to order and pick up your food at the bar. A great find!

The sunny terrace and beautiful backyard are the best parts for me now. Before the pandemic I came every day for the daily menu, which was very competitively priced and had gorgeous, quite elaborate dishes. During covid they tried something different and it was a total mess. They’ve brought back the old menu, but the quality is much lower and prices have gone up, for obvious reasons. There are better places.

I really enjoyed my stay and will come back. The location was good, with a large secure parking area that fit my big car. The rooms had nice views and the service was great. The restaurant was fantastic too, especially the Caldereta and Torrijas. Thanks!

The restaurant is really spacious and has great views. We had a good lunch with the family, and the food was very good, like eating at your grandma’s house. I’d recommend going, it’s really good!
