We were relieved to cancel in the end. Traveling with a small child, we didn’t want trouble, and I’m sure we can find a better hotel nearby. Before that, I’d asked for a room with one large bed and whether an 8pm check-in was possible instead of 7pm, as the website suggested. Those two questions turned into a confusing string of messages. First they told us to cancel because they had no rooms with one large bed and said we needed to book a triple room, which wasn’t true, as the attached messages show. Then, when that was clear, they canceled our reservation claiming our credit card had no funds. That was also false: it has an unused credit limit this month.

After a five-mile trail walk, this place felt like an oasis. Desi was such a welcoming waitress, and the food was delicious. A lovely, breezy spot with a quaint setting, whether you're hiking or just stopping by.

We'd already had a picnic lunch on the trail, so we only stopped for drinks and a snack after walking a quarter of the vía verde and back. The veranda has nice seating and views, and the spinach and goat cheese croquettes were well made and nicely presented. Service was friendly and attentive, and even though it was fairly busy, we didn't have to wait. Prices seemed reasonable too. We ended up wishing we'd stayed for a full lunch. A few rounds of Uno with cards we'd brought made for a relaxing end to our week in Olvera. Thanks! :-) ☺️👏

The outdoor dining area behind the station is a joy, especially with the lovely winter sun. I can't comment on the rooms, but the nearby playground clearly makes this popular with local families.

There's plenty of outdoor seating, and the restaurant works well for an informal bite. The meat is especially tasty. I'd try the croquetas de espinaca and the paridailla de verdura too.
