Cortijo Romero

There were lovely little surprises waiting for us when we arrived, and behind the main building we found a lush, tucked-away garden with a barbecue area and pool. The cortijo has a rustic elegance, with comfortable, spacious rooms and a well stocked kitchen. The hosts made sure we had everything we needed.

The hardest part of staying at Cortijo Romero near Venta de Micena is having to leave. As a former travel writer, I can't easily pick a favorite place I've stayed, but this one is right at the top of my list. The hosts have made it feel like a retreat from a film set, with mountains behind it, fragrant flowers all around, and birds singing. Freshly baked bread was waiting on the counter, and there was even a basket of things guests might have forgotten to pack. Add the comfy furnishings and the lush garden and pool area, and it feels like someone really understands what makes a home away from home.

The calm and warm welcome were a big part of why we loved it. We could spend the day swimming and sunbathing, then have a barbecue as evening came. The house was beautiful and the setting peaceful, and the whole stay exceeded our expectations. Thanks so much for the experience and tranquility. We hope to come back someday.

Amazing farmhouse, rustic and well maintained. The only thing I missed was electrical outlets outside. 9.9
