Hotel Golf Campoamor

The staff were friendly and efficient, which made the meal feel easy and enjoyable. At Hotel Golf Campoamor, the steak was tender, full of flavour and cooked just right, with sea salt. The salad was generous and fresh, with vegetables, cheese, nuts and tuna. It’s a peaceful, scenic setting for lunch or dinner with friends or family. We enjoyed the meal more than expected, and I’d recommend stopping by whether you’re staying at the hotel or visiting the area.

The terrace bar and restaurant were the real highlights, with incredible views and meals we enjoyed every time. Drinks at the bar were pleasingly cheap too. The course was lovely and the rooms were nice. What's not to love?

At €104 for one golfer and a buggy, I expected a better course. Some greens look patched together with repair inserts, which is concerning since they lost the greens a couple of years ago. The booking system is useless: I booked off first and finished the front nine in 61 minutes, then found three groups ahead on the back nine. Terrible management.

The course layout has potential, but its condition let it down badly, especially the greens. Every green rolled at a different speed, so putting felt like a lottery. Some were bumpy and patchy; others were fast in places and slow in others. It all felt neglected. The fairways were patchy too, the facilities were tired, and maintenance fell well below what the fees suggest. I saw no sign of active management or efforts to improve things. We'd booked two buggies ahead of time, but on arrival staff said rain the previous night meant no buggies could be used. There were no refunds. They directed us to a storeroom for pull trolleys without helping, and we got the last ones. People arriving after us had to carry their bags. The other negative reviews are accurate. Staff seemed uninterested, almost rude. It felt like they had our money and that was all they cared about. We'll pursue the buggy refund with management. We won't be back. Unless ownership changes or serious money goes into maintenance and management, I can't see the course becoming the quality venue it could be. I hope hotel guests are treated better, given the rates they pay.
