Hotel Kalma Jardín de Bellver

The room was very clean, but so tiny it was really only suitable for one night. There was nowhere for luggage, just one bedside table, no armchair, and no bathtub. The shower was hard to regulate, swinging between too hot and too cold. Dinner was barely average for 20 bucks, with little choice and just one glass of wine. Breakfast was acceptable, not great. Overnight parking was expensive, with no clear warning when booking online. Getting into the car park was very difficult and the exit impractical. It's far from town, and walking along the road would be dangerous. Four stars feels way overrated.

The staff were kind and did a lot to make our stay enjoyable. We had half board: breakfast was good, but dinner was less appealing, so we ate there only once in our three nights. The hotel is around 10 minutes from Benicassim city centre, which is a good location overall. If you're staying more than a few days, though, having a car would be advisable.

Breakfast and the orange juice were superb in May, but that was about it. There was no soundproofing between rooms, and a noisy neighbour woke us at 5:00 am. There was no pillow or proper cover, just a very thin piece of fabric. The air conditioning was too cold and noisy, but once switched off the room got too hot. Also, they charged 12€ for one night's parking despite plenty of free spaces outside. For the price, it wasn't a good experience.

The pool was what I liked most, and the restaurant food was good too. The hotel was excellent, with very friendly customer service throughout my stay. I'd highly recommend it.
