ibis Oviedo

The staff were nice and helpful, and check-in went okay, but the room quality and cleaning let the stay down. We had two rooms for four nights, and both bathrooms smelled strongly of urine. It never went away in mine or my daughter’s bathroom, and each time I went in, it made me feel a bit nauseated. It was really gross. I don’t think a pregnant woman could stand it. I wondered if it had soaked into the tiles and felt paranoid about going barefoot. One day I put out the “please clean the room” tag. The cleaner started to come in, saw me there, then left and changed the tag to privacy. I left right away and know she saw me go. I was gone for seven hours, but when I came back, the tag had been switched and the room hadn’t been cleaned. That annoyed me, since I hoped cleaning the bathroom might help with the smell. Apart from the smell, the room was just okay, big enough and with an okay bed, but some things were peeling. The air-conditioning control was broken, so I couldn’t tell what temperature I was setting and had to spin it and guess. Breakfast food was good, and the restaurant staff were friendly and helpful, though the coffee was weak and tasted weird. Maybe the Ibis budget part of this hotel would be better, counterintuitively. Without that gross, pervasive, overpowering urine smell in the bathroom, I’d have given it a much better review.

The staff are easily the best part of this Ibis Oviedo. I’ve stayed here for more than 15 years and recommend it 100%.

The staff at reception and the Cafe were friendly and attentive, and there’s a nice outdoor patio for eating or having a drink al fresco. Ibis gives you a fair balance of price and quality, with rooms that are generally comfortable and clean. The climate control could be better, especially in the shoulder seasons or while traveling.

The room was small but perfectly manageable, and the service was amazing, warm, and helpful throughout. You generally know what to expect at an Ibis. The location is a bit far from the center, which can be a hassle if you don’t like walking or the weather isn’t good.
