Casa Grande da Capellanía

The busy road is close by, but the place is convenient if you’re walking the Camino de Santiago. The rustic building has been renovated and is well maintained, with spacious, clean rooms and bathrooms. Alex at reception was wonderful, kind and helpful. He took care of everything we needed, met all our requests and helped us with the language. The shared areas and back garden are very well kept, and the pool is a nice place to relax. A lovely stay, relaxing and somewhere we’d definitely return to. I absolutely recommend it!

I would have given this hotel a 5 if there had been air conditioning or even a fan. The weather was hot, and with the windows and shutters shut, the room was stifling. I spent a sweaty, uncomfortable night. The double-glazed windows and shutters did help keep out some of the noise from the busy road next to the hotel. The room was quite nice, the person who looked after us was kind and helpful, and the hotel sits on a nice-sized property with a pool shielded from the road. We stayed at Casa Grande de Capella while walking the camino.

We had the whole hostel to ourselves. It’s an immaculate albergue attached to the hotel and easy to find. The manager was friendly and welcoming. The bunks came with sheets, a pillow and blankets, and there are lockers in the rooms. A washing machine and dryer are available too. A great place to stay on the Camino.

Alex, the owner, is very professional and looks after what guests need. The hotel is charming, nicely renovated, beside the Church and right on the St James pilgrimage way. Be sure to book dinner and breakfast, as this is literally the only thing open in this small town.
