IFA Altamarena by Lopesan Hotels - All Inclusive

We stayed for 12 nights, and the air conditioning broke on the second day. When we told Pablo at reception, he didn’t seem interested in helping. After three days, we were offered another room, but it hadn’t been cleaned and the previous guests had only just left. That was completely unacceptable. Housekeeping also missed our room twice even though the sign was on the door. Eventually a different receptionist helped and moved us to another room. The “all-inclusive” package is misleading. Drinks come from machines, there are no fresh options, and the alcohol is very poor quality. Bottled water isn’t supplied in the room and has to be bought, even at night. Families with infants should be extremely cautious, as the shower temperature changes rapidly from cold to scalding. There was a sign in the room asking guests to leave a positive review for a chance to win “all-inclusive premium.” That’s highly inappropriate. Food was average at best, though the waitress was attentive and professional. This hotel doesn’t deserve even one star.

I would rate this higher if my two room deposits had been returned. We checked out exactly a month ago after an all-inclusive stay, had no incidentals charged to the rooms, and were told the refunds would be processed right away. Nothing has appeared in my bank account. I don’t understand why a room deposit is needed for an all-inclusive stay. Please refund me.

The hotel’s Art Deco feel, beautiful gardens, cleanliness, and friendly staff made for a lovely week at Altamarena. We were worried after reading some reviews, but were very happy with the hotel. It could use a facelift in places, though overall it was a lovely place for a holiday. The food was very good, with a good selection and quality. The location is perfect, just minutes from an amazing beach, with shops, restaurants, and bars across the road if you want them. My son was disappointed with the WiFi, which was intermittent and sometimes didn’t work in parts of the hotel. The air conditioning took a while to cool the room and had to be left running all the time.

We knew the place from an earlier stay, so coming back for three weeks felt familiar. The food was good and the hotel was clean. There are activities going on through the day if you feel like joining in, and Ozy did a great job keeping everyone entertained. Or you can just have a quiet, relaxing break.
