Hostal SolFina made a really good base for my Spain trip. I could reach some great beach towns in just a few minutes, and the beach was about 10 minutes away without the beach-hotel prices. With a car, Figueres, Roses, Barcelona, and Pubol were all roughly an hour's drive, which worked well for seeing the Dalí sights. My room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and I had a nice balcony overlooking the pool. There was plenty of free parking. The pool looked inviting and the food looked good too, though I was out most of the day and never got to swim or eat there. It isn't a four-star hotel, but I still had a four-star stay. It's not the Four Seasons, but you're paying much less. The right place depends on the kind of traveler you are, and I really enjoyed it.

We felt scammed. There’s a club downstairs by the pool, run by the same owner, and it stayed open with a party until 3 a.m. The hotel didn’t tell us about it until we arrived, and we couldn’t sleep at all.

The rooms were clean and the staff were nice, but at 110 euros a night I expected basics like soap or shower gel, and a shower that worked properly. Check whether the club has a party before booking. If it does, you may be kept awake until 3 in the morning.

We found a lovely pool, seating area, and bar here, with lovely staff and really good-value food. It’s a great find near Costa Brava and Marineland. Definitely worth the trip, I’d recommend it!

Avoid Solfina restaurant. In the morning there were few food options, and the staff were unfriendly. When we asked for a table outside, a waiter yelled that only indoor tables were available. We got the same attitude when asking for the menu. At the end, we wanted to pay by credit card and were told harshly that there was a 20 euro minimum. That rule wasn’t posted anywhere.
