We stayed here for a horse dining completion because the hotel is very close to the show ground. The hotel itself is quite nice and the reception staff are very friendly. Breakfast was amazing and deserves a special mention, especially the freshly squeezed orange juice.

The rooms have been fine on my past stays, and the location is good. Lately I’ve often had breakfast, which is competitively priced, in the refurbished Bar Karibu area. It’s been tastefully done, with a spacious indoor dining area and really comfy seats. In warmer weather there’s outdoor seating, with a nice screen and plants that separate you from the road. The road is pretty quiet anyway, so it isn’t intrusive, and it’s handy for parking if you don’t want to walk far.

The location is a real plus, with several parks opposite, including one that gets lively in the evening. There are good restaurants in the hotel and across the street, and you might even spot someone riding a horse down the road. Parking, though, can be a challenge. Our basic room was tiny, but workable if you don't plan to spend much time in it. It could use a makeover: the mattress was very firm, the blankets looked dated, and it wasn't as clean as other reviews suggested. The photos showing modern accommodations are of the hotel restaurant, not the rooms.

The breakfasts were pretty sparse, and dinner was the same. I wasn't happy with either. ☹️

The rooms were quite good, and the location worked really well.
