Son Matias Beach -Adults Only

The evening programme was just right for us. Elva, the entertainment manager, was fantastic, with quizzes, bingo and great live music. There was always something going on, but it never felt like too much. Son Matias Beach Hotel is right on the beach, with beautiful sea views and everything else an easy walk away. The hotel was spotless and well looked after, and the bar staff were especially welcoming and friendly. Our room was comfortable and had a lovely balcony view. We had a relaxing, enjoyable stay, found it good value, and would happily return and recommend it.

Palma Nova is gorgeous, with a lovely beach, good food and a relaxing feel. The hotel is well placed right beside the beach and a nice restaurant, and the breakfast and service were good. We had a comfy bed and the location suited us. We’re in our late 40s and early 50s, and it worked well for us. It’s adults only, so there are no kids, and it caters to an older crowd, with daily and evening entertainment aimed at them. The room felt quite small compared with Fergus, near the blue bar.

We were only booked for B&B, so I can’t say anything about the evening menu. Breakfast was great and had lots of choice. The pool bar snacks were a good selection, though I found them a bit expensive. The staff were really friendly and always went out of their way to help. The place has a laid-back feel and sits right on the beach. It does attract a more mature crowd, which helps when the 9:30 sunbed rush starts. Our room was clean and very good. We got a complimentary glass of fizz on arrival and a bottle of water in the fridge. We were on the first floor and had a good view, though a higher floor would have been better. We’d 110% come back to Son Matias Beach.

The daily scramble for sunbeds got so hectic that we chose the beach instead, and enjoyed that much more. People start queuing early, then by 9:30 it’s a full rush for loungers. The pool itself is lovely, with both sunbeds and day beds, all cleaned each morning. We came in June for the beachfront location, and it delivered: the sea is just steps away and bars and restaurants are an easy walk. The rooms are bright, clean and well kept, though a little small. We’d booked a sea view but were first given a pool view. The staff fixed it the next day, which we appreciated. Breakfast has plenty, although the area gets busy. There are pool towels in the room, but it costs €1 to change them, and the safe has an extra charge. The staff were polite, helpful and friendly throughout. The hotel clearly appeals to older guests, and the nightly entertainment reflects that. They seemed to enjoy it, though it wasn’t really our thing.
