Zel Mallorca

Leti was the highlight of our stay at Zel Mallorca. She led several workout and yoga classes, and I had so much fun in every one. My mom and I also joined her painting and macrame activities. She was so welcoming and an absolute delight, a real standout among the staff. We stayed in August, and the beach was beautiful. The breakfast buffet was the best we've seen at a hotel.

The bus stop is only a 2-3 minute walk away, with good connections to Palma and the airport, and the location is perfect. Staff were always kind and helpful, the rooms were spotless, and breakfast was easily the best I've seen at a hotel, with something for everyone. Before our five-night stay, a couple of reviews had me unsure what to expect, but I honestly couldn't fault the place. Everything was 100%. Some people have left bad reviews, but you can't please everyone at the end of the day.

For the prices they charge, the value just isn't there. The property has some potential, but the service, location, and atmosphere don't come close to a real five-star experience. We stayed recently in Mallorca and it felt three or four stars at best, despite the hotel's five-star claim. The neighborhood was noisier at night than expected, and it wasn't the quiet, exclusive setting we had in mind. There are some nice decorative touches inside, but the hotel as a whole didn't feel especially luxurious. Service was the biggest letdown: most staff seemed unmotivated and uncertain about their roles. We often saw employees standing around without direction, which made things confusing and left us feeling the place wasn't managed well. I hope management takes these issues seriously, because the hotel isn't delivering what it promises.

At about 500 euro a night when we stayed at the end of August, I expected a nice hotel, but it felt more like a hostel. The service was poor from the start. There was nobody at the entrance when we pulled up, no sign explaining parking or valet, and we stood in the lobby for several minutes before I found someone to ask about the car and check-in. Check-in was all digital, done on your phone, with a kiosk for getting the keys. The kiosk wasn't working when we tried it. I understand streamlining things, but removing the human interaction made the place feel cold and unwelcoming. The room was okay, nothing special. The bed was uncomfortable, like a budget roadside inn, with a firm mattress and scratchy sheets. The bathroom had only the basics, soap, shampoo, and conditioner, no Q-tips or cotton swabs. They stocked hand towels and regular towels, but no washcloths. Breakfast was included and nice, with lots to choose from. The restaurant was very expensive for other meals, so you're better off walking down the block to eat for half the price.
