Mas Salvi Country Boutique Hotel

I had the pleasure of performing my live DJ SAX show at Jessica & Joe’s wedding party at the beautiful Mas Salvi in Pals, Girona. Bubble and Bells handled the decoration and organization, and it was breathtaking. @dboyntonweddingphotos captured all those wonderful moments, while DJ Isaac @discomobilsonoaccio kept the dance floor going with his mixes. The rooms are spacious but could use some upkeep. Breakfast is good, lunch is acceptable, and dinner wasn’t a great experience. The common areas are large enough for a comfortable stay, whether you’re looking for quiet or traveling with family. One concern: documents are printed on the backs of used sheets. My invoice, for example, was printed over a 2022 guest list, so I could see names, dates of stay, and other details. In my opinion, that’s quite a breach of privacy.

The building is even prettier in person than in the photos, and the location and outdoor areas are gorgeous. The rooms have large, comfortable beds, at least 2x2m. But we were disappointed. We’d booked a large suite to have space for us and our 2yo, and although it was spacious, we barely slept because noise from around the hotel seemed to carry straight into the room. The sound insulation was very poor. The furniture was old and shabby, nothing like what you’d expect from a 4* hotel, and the terrace was dirty. There was no hot water in the shower. The soap dispensers held cheap bulk soap like you find in gas stations, whereas in a 4* hotel you’d expect at least some nice soap and cream. We complained and moved to a smaller room, though it was still quite spacious. It was quiet, but still felt very old and outdated. The shower didn’t work until it was repaired the next day, and there were mould stains in the bathroom. The bathroom felt dirty and shabby overall. Staff were generally unfriendly and unhelpful, apart from one or two waiters at the pool bar. We tried both the pool bar restaurant and the hotel restaurant, and both disappointed us with poor quality food and unfriendly service. Salt came in little packets, McDonald’s style, when you’d expect proper salt dispensers in a 4* hotel. Dirty plates from lunch by the pool weren’t cleared until the next day, so plates and glasses piled up all day unless you cleared them yourself. When we arrived, no one offered to help with our bags. Four people were chatting at reception while my husband walked past them three times carrying heavy luggage. The hotel may have been modern and great 10y-20y ago, but it clearly needs freshening up and a complete change in staff attitude. We won’t be back.

We had an incredible weekend at Más Salvi with our closest family and friends. It’s a wonderful wedding venue and hotel, and the staff were attentive throughout and handled all our requests without any trouble. Special thanks to Giuseppe, who helped make both the wedding and the whole weekend a huge success. We’ll absolutely return to Más Salvi. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts!
