Hotel Pompaelo Plaza del Ayuntamiento & Spa

For a budget hotel, this is a great location in the old town, near shops and places to eat. It was quiet and very comfortable, with good soundproofing. I took off a star because there were no tea or coffee facilities in the room, and the on-site cafe was closed when we arrived in the late afternoon.

I enjoyed my two-night stay, and the central location and great staff were definite pluses. The room was called a kingsize deluxe, but it was the bed that was big, not the room. I would have liked a higher floor. From my first-floor room, people on the street could look in, so I kept the curtains shut throughout both days and got no daylight. The spa requires a private booking, and €25 for just 45 minutes might make more sense if you're travelling with others.

We had a great stay and felt the price was worth it. The room was very clean, with a great shower, a super comfortable bed and a nice view. The location is hard to beat, and all the staff gave personal, attentive service. The spa hours could be better. We stayed Sunday to Monday, when it closes on Sunday and Monday mornings. Breakfast could use vegan choices, including non-dairy options without having to ask, and freshly prepared tomato would have been nice. In the shower, the toiletries came in plastic bags that you have to open with your teeth. Refillable bottles would be better. We'll be back!

Right in the middle of everything, this modern hotel has very comfortable beds and linens, a large bathroom and all the amenities. The spa is excellent, with a jacuzzi, hot sauna and steam sauna. Aintzane gave me a massage and was excellent. Ask for her if you can.
