Gran Hotel - Balneario de Panticosa

The location is beautiful, and they kindly let us into our room a little before the 4pm check-in. We’d hoped to spend an hour in the spa pool before dinner, but were told it costs 49 euros per person per hour. We checked with the Spanish-speaking spa staff to make sure, and the receptionist confirmed the price. That’s about £100 for us to sit in a whirlpool for a bit, which is taking the mick. We’d rather spend £100 on wine. I’m giving it 3 stars for now because the location is nice, but wanted to warn people about the hidden jacuzzi cost. I’ll update after we check out.

At €200 a night, there’s no bar or food, no tea or coffee in the rooms, and the pool costs €50 per person per hour. I’ve got two more nights to suffer through before we leave. The views are great, and maybe this was once a great hotel, but the service now feels like a hostel. The price should reflect that, and they need to change their advertising because it’s verging on fraud.

Everything was perfect.

The ensaladilla is well worth ordering. We had a lovely dinner at the Grand Hotel cafeteria, and the tapas were generous and really tasty. Mafe looked after us warmly and efficiently.
