Albergue A Fábrica da Luz - Hostel

The team made the stay especially welcoming. Oscar, Sara, Carmen, and Erea were all lovely, helpful, and full of suggestions about things to do nearby. I spent five days at Albergue o Fabrica de la Luz and found it one of the best albergues I’ve stayed in on the Camino de Santiago. It’s a modern, well-equipped place in a peaceful setting, with several walking routes starting nearby, including cañón Mao and pasarela. Kayaks are available, and you can rent mountain bikes (BTT). The cantina serves good food, too. The building used to be a hydroelectric plant and sits by the river Mao at the end of the canyon, so there aren’t views from the albergue, but there are plenty of trees, rivers, and quiet nature around it. I came looking for somewhere calm and comfortable where I could walk and take photographs, and also found the Ribeira Sacra, with its fascinating history of rivers, wine, and people living alongside nature. You can also walk the pasarela without staying overnight, then stop at the Cantina for a snack and cold drink.

The nearby hiking trail winds through nature and feels like a walk in a fairyland. Such a pleasant retreat.

A beautiful place, though the food didn’t feel good enough for Galicia.
