Hotel la Trainera

The views were spectacular, and the hotel was so peaceful, a lovely place to relax. I felt comfortable as soon as I arrived. The room was genuinely spacious, with handy storage for all our things. The whole hotel has a modern but welcoming style, and the bathroom was spotless and very modern. Whenever we came back, the room had been cleaned perfectly and smelled lovely. I’d definitely return.

We picked this hotel for a two-day stay because it advertised a restaurant, but found out when we arrived that it was closed for vacation. We ordered a beer after checking in, only to be told the bar and the whole hotel were closed too. There’d be no breakfast, and we were directed to a café 500 meters away. They gave us two bottles of beer as a consolation. There was no one else in the building when we had questions about our rooms. Reception and the lounge were locked. Our room had a refrigerator but no water, tea, or even a jug. Nobody had told us any of this in the weeks before our stay. We would have canceled if we’d known. That’s no way to treat customers. We did like the location on the main road and the view of Santander. The room was large, with a roomy balcony, though the bathroom had no storage despite having space for shelves. Someone came to clean around 3 pm the next day; otherwise, we didn’t see anybody.

The restaurant food is fantastic and fairly priced, and the golf course and lovely hiking trails are nearby. The service is super friendly, and the location is ideal. I’ve stayed twice and will definitely be back. A 10 out of 10!

We had lunch as a pair and got excellent service. The food was delicious, and several desserts were homemade. The artichokes weren’t on the menu, but they’re a must-try.
