Casa Rural Cuesta Grande

The homemade food was spectacular, especially the braised pork cheeks, desserts, and paella. The rooms have been newly renovated and have clean, new mattresses, and Ana and Josep made me feel at home with how helpful, kind, and welcoming they were. Working away from home all year is hard, and feeling at home while you’re away is harder still. For anyone reading this before the older reviews, Josep and Ana have managed the apartments and bar since November 2023, so those earlier reviews don’t reflect how things are now. It’s a great value stop to recharge, a rural break, or a trip with friends, family, or a partner. I’m so grateful to Ana and Josep for putting so much love into everything. The house is quite spacious, with four bedrooms, each with a bunk bed and a single bed. The fence around the property is a plus, as it feels safer with small children. It sounds like the issues from my first review have been fixed, if this is your property, though your reply came years later. There are a lot of things that need improvement. The grill was filthy and took scrubbing, and it was crooked, so the food fell off and we couldn't barbecue after lighting the fire. The furnishings were poor too. The house is supposed to fit 12, but there were only four glasses and no breakfast cups. Both small frying pans were burnt and dented, and the saucepans' handles weren't attached, so we had to search the kitchen for them. Four or five cabinet knobs were missing, making the drawers hard to open. There wasn't a single wardrobe, so we had to leave clothes in our suitcases. We found only eight chairs, one with visibly cracking wood, and one bed had cracked wood as well. The freezer drawers were broken, so there were no usable drawers. There are many things to improve.

It seems set up for young people, but we came as a family with grandparents in their 70s and babies aged 20 months and 2 months, and had a fantastic time. The beds are a little firm, though we slept very well. The owner lives across the street and is rarely there, but if you need him, he’ll even help find parking in Salamanca during the festivals. There are four bedrooms, each with a bunk bed and a single bed, plus two bathrooms. The living room and kitchen have a big table, plenty of chairs, and three sofas. Outside, there are porches with two large picnic areas and a big barbecue on the property. We came away very happy!

I didn't like it at all. The mattresses were awful, with springs sticking out, and there wasn't even soap or towels.
