Agora Apartamentos La Volta

The pool is a nice feature and larger than it looks in the photos. The building and facilities look good, the balconies have decent space, and the place is quite nice overall. But the apartment doesn’t meet basic expectations for the price, especially in midsummer when air conditioning or even a ceiling fan feels necessary. The shower curtain is flimsy and doesn’t cover the whole area, so water gets out; it needs a screen. The sofa bed mattresses are very uncomfortable. Supplies are sparse too: not enough toilet paper, no basic dishwashing kit, and only one trash bag when a few more would help. There are just four of each cutlery item and glasses, and no scissors or simple wine or beer opener. For a place advertised for four, the terrace needs a couple more chairs and a bigger table. I’m not asking for luxury, just these basics. There were ants in the bathrooms and kitchen as well, so the cleaning and disinfection should be more thorough.

The beach is very close and lovely, but there’s not much to buy nearby, so you need a car. Peñíscola felt overrated to me, and the local prices weren’t worth it. I’d find the south a thousand times better. The apartment itself isn’t bad, though getting there was a real ordeal because of the hotel’s directions. Food around here is terrible, and the bars downstairs are some of the worst I’ve seen.

The photos gave a misleading impression, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The apartment was poorly cleaned and smelled bad, as did the sheets and duvets. The sofa bed was impossible to sleep on, with springs digging into me. On top of that, the refrigerator made a constant unpleasant noise that kept disturbing my sleep.

The area is quiet and away from town, and having guest parking was really, really good. The place was clean, and it was renovated around eight years ago, so most things still feel fairly new. The bed was okay, if a little soft. There’s no air conditioning, and they leave no cleaning supplies or soap, just two toilet rolls. The TV is tiny, the living room sofa is disgusting to sit on and needs replacing, and some of the dishes are worn. The pool is small and cold since it’s shaded most of the day, though I’m glad it’s there.
