The apartment floor was covered in sand when we arrived, and I doubt they even sweep between guests. They gave us just one set of sheets for two sofa beds, even though the main bed already had sheets. The location is the one good thing, right by the beach and castle. Check-in was listed as 4 pm, but the key office didn’t open until 5. It’s across Peñíscola, almost an hour on foot, so we had to drive. In August, the nearest parking we could find was a 15-minute walk away in the opposite direction. Air conditioning costs extra, €11.50 a night, but no one offered it when we collected the keys. We had to add it and go back for the remote. The receptionist then asked, “Are you sure you looked on the table?” We had, and even called before moving the car again to confirm, after being told to go to the office. Checkout was meant to be at 10 am, but the deposit rules said the keys had to be back at the office by then. We called and were told we could leave the apartment at 10. I think they noticed I was annoyed after two hours of running around.

The apartment’s very close to the beach, but there was noise all day and night. With the windows shut it got too hot, and air conditioning cost €11.50 a day. The refrigerator was broken, and we were five people. They told us to use the one upstairs, but it was a tiny one that was full after just two bottles. The blinds kept falling down because they were broken, some kitchen furniture was broken too, and they offered no solution. They charge for everything. Avoid these apartments.

I liked the apartment, but the company was another matter. I booked in July 2023 and complained that the website didn’t say before booking that the key collection office was 3 km away. A company representative called that a lie and said they give the location before booking. I won’t accept being called a liar, so I’m posting the evidence. I attached a screenshot saying the key collection address would be provided after payment. I also have a WhatsApp conversation where I ask why they gave the address after booking, not before. The representative says that chat was after I booked, but my question clearly asks why the information comes after booking. I find the company unprofessional for denying the facts I showed them. Unless the employees in Peñíscola lied to their boss. There was another issue at reception when I collected the keys. I wanted to rent air conditioning by the day, which is charged separately. When I paid, they didn’t offer a receipt or invoice, and I had to insist on proof. They handed me a receipt written with a typical discount store pen, looking annoyed. A set of sheets was missing when I got to the apartment. I’d come by bus, and the office was 3 km away, so I was outraged at the idea of going back. On WhatsApp they said the office had told me to wait because they were going to give me sheets, then leave. That’s not true. When they gave me the air conditioning receipt, I checked that everything was ready and asked if I could go. They said yes. The company, its employees, and even the person handling complaints are incompetent. I tried to sort it out through the OCIC legal mediation service, but they washed their hands of it with lies. The staff who handled my booking, key collection, and linens even laughed in my face. We’re reporting it.
