The location is good, the sea views are lovely, and there’s a nice pool on the ground floor. Parking worked for our big van, though it costs extra. Dinner was okay, but breakfast was disappointing for a 4-star hotel, with limited choice and poor quality. The cooling was the main problem: it was switched off the first night and didn’t come back until 11am, so we were sweating and barely slept. It stayed on the second night, but still couldn’t handle the heat outside by morning, even though it was only May. I’d only recommend staying here if you can tolerate a hot room.

You’re only steps from the beach, and the oceanfront view from the room is hard to beat. Breakfast has a generous spread with fruit, eggs, bread, juice, and more. Just be aware that cold air conditioning requires an upgrade to a superior room.

The hotel is clean and the bed is comfortable, but some of the charges and basics are hard to understand. Guests have to bring their own beach towels. When I asked at reception, they suggested buying some at a nearby shop. The sauna and indoor jacuzzi also cost an extra 13€ every time, instead of being included for guests. The gym equipment is very old, and the food is nothing special, though drinks at the bar are cheap. It’s more than a 20-minute walk to the old city.

The rooms had a perfect view, and we didn’t pay extra for it. The kitchen was very good too, with nice breakfasts and dinners. The dinner menu changes daily, then repeats weekly. Staff were kind and helped with all my questions. There’s a nice beach right outside and it’s about a 20-minute walk to the center. We had a good, relaxing family holiday, though I imagine it can get crowded in high season.

We found it good value, with sensible bar prices, and it’s an easy walk into Peniscola. The buffet had lots of choice and everything was presented well. The beachfront hotel was very well run and spotlessly clean. I’d happily stay again.
