The €5 entrance ticket gets you into a well-maintained, renovated place, and it's very entertaining to explore. If you visit each room and walk everywhere, you can easily spend 1-2 hours there. There are nice views from several angles.

The views over Peñíscola and the Mediterranean from the highest point are phenomenal, and the fortified old town is lovely to wander through, with cozy souvenir shops and a range of restaurants adding to its lively, authentic feel. The €5 entry also includes the impressive artillery gardens, so it's good value. The castle's history, including its time under the Knights Templar, makes it especially interesting if you like history. A visit is well worth it for anyone nearby, particularly if you're drawn to historic places with something distinctive about them.
The castle is really cool, and we had a lovely day there. There are plenty of steps and steep bits, though, so expect a lot of walking and bring water. It would be hot in summer.
The sea views are stunning, especially around sunset, and the old streets nearby are lovely to wander through. Peñíscola Castle is a fantastic place to visit, and it was fun to learn that Game of Thrones was filmed there. 🏰✨
There’s a lot to explore, from inside the castle to the garden in the grounds, so keep your ticket with you to get into the garden. From the top, you get a great view over the ocean, with lots of good spots for photos of the town and sea. We hadn’t known the Knights of Templar occupied it before Papa Luna. It’s a huge castle with a rich history, and a major landmark to see if you’re in the area.
